    POSITION SUMMARY
    Under general supervision of the Facilities Manager, installs, maintains and repairs locking devices, security containers and door closing hardware. Reproduces keys, make badges and maintain records. Maintains master key system(s). Maintains and repairs vehicle locks and locking systems. Maintains and repairs Electronic Access Control Systems.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Coordinates with site administrators, teachers, contractors, official agencies and various maintenance shops to schedule work orders and project completion.
    • Repairs, replaces, converts, maintains and installs locking devices for doors, office furniture, vehicles, safes, vaults, and associated hardware. Determines methods of repair and materials needed within established expenditure guidelines.
    • Inspects all facilities to ensure compliance with School Facilities Board (SFB), National Fire Protection Act (NFPA) and American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
    • Coordinates the installation and repair of Electronic Access Control System components.
    • Provides expertise to architects, engineers and administrators during the planning phase of construction projects and recommends changes, as needed, such as determining the type of hardware to install.
    • Evaluates and plans small capital projects according to set standards and writes estimates for hardware. Submits estimates for work and budget requirements.
    • Makes new and duplicate keys and maintains records of cylinder keying and key duplication.
    • Repairs vehicle locks and locking systems. Duplicates and performs programming on electronic transponder keys and immobilizer systems.
    • Fabricates repair parts using various metal working tools.
    • Provides training on the installation, repair and replacement of door closures, panic bars and related door hardware.
    • Maintains master and grand master keys for all locks and codes.
    • Determines salvageable materials and what may be destroyed, or offers possible solutions to a construction or remodeling problem.
    • Maintains doorframe listings, inventory records of supplies and materials, keying records, and information related to building access and security.
    • Repairs and replaces door closures and related door hardware.
    • Prepares hardware schedule from blueprints for new buildings and alterations.
    • Orders hardware supplies and materials needed as approved by supervisor.
    • Initiates and finalizes work order forms to include time and materials used for each repair.
    • Specifies and installs new hardware on new doors according to specifications.
    • Repairs vaults and safes. Changes lock combinations.
    • Cuts, installs and maintains all key operated elevator switches and components.
    • Operates hand and power tools as needed in the performance of duties.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.
    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Knowledge of codes, methods, standard practices and related safety regulations, such as OSHA.
    • Thorough knowledge of all types of locks, vehicle electronic transponder keys and immobilizer systems and associated programming equipment and all related tools and key cutting equipment and their operation.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
    • Ability to handle emergencies.
    • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and the public.
    • Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • 3 years experience as a locksmith
    • Valid Arizona Drivers License
    • Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to bend, stoop, climb, kneel, sit and walk. The employee may be required to lift or move up to 60 pounds.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    This position works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, with exposure to dust, noise and fumes. The noise level in the work environment is generally mild and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students, staff, and the public.

    $21.17/hour - 12 month position - 40 hours/week
