    POSITION SUMMARY
    Plans, coordinates, and manages assigned transportation operations for the Marana Unified School District; supervises and coordinates staff field training programs; ensures compliance with regulatory requirements; investigates school bus accidents and student discipline issues; responds to transportation related complaints; and supervises assigned personnel.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Manages and coordinates the Departments field operations including staff training, accident and incident investigation, and school bus safety.
    • Assists in ensuring the delivery of quality student transportation services in accordance with State and Federal regulatory requirements.
    • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel; ensures staff compliance with departmental policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and safety practices.
    • Supervises and coordinates field training programs for school bus drivers, attendants, and crossing guards; monitors and ensures compliance with staff certification requirements.
    • Responds to and resolves parent, staff member, and public complaints regarding transportation service related matters.
    • Enforces school bus discipline policies; investigates school bus incidents and determines culpability; communicates with parents and school officials regarding investigative outcomes.
    • Investigates school bus accidents and participates in post accident follow up activities as required by the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
    • Provides accident information to the Vehicle Accident Review Committee and initiates disciplinary action as required.
    • Coordinates safety management functions including mandatory school bus evacuation drills.
    • Prepares and maintains a variety of departmental records, reports, and documentation.
    • Performs other duties as assigned or required.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Knowledge of:
    • Principles and practices of student transportation field operations.
    • Federal regulations and safety requirements governing student transportation.
    • Arizona Minimum Standards for School Bus Operation.
    • School bus driver, attendant, and crossing guard training programs.
    • Procedures for investigating school bus accidents and student discipline incidents.
    • Supervisory principles, practices, and methods.

    Required Skill in:
    • Managing and coordinating the Districts field transportation operations.
    • Assisting in ensuring the delivery of quality student transportation services.
    • Monitoring and maintaining compliance with State and Federal transportation regulations.
    • Coordinating bus driver, attendant, and crossing guard training programs.
    • Investigating bus accidents and responding to transportation related complaints.
    • Supervising, leading, and delegating tasks and authority.

    Education and Experience:
    High School Diploma or equivalent, and two years experience managing and coordinating the delivery of student transportation services; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Required Licenses and Certifications:
    • School Bus Driver, School Bus Classroom Instructor, and School Bus Behind the Wheel Instructor certifications are required.
    • Must possess a valid Arizona Class B Commercial Drivers License.

    Salary: Range:
    $54,144.00 - $58,608.00 (based on 23-24 hiring schedule)

    ***12 Month Contracted Position - Exempt Position
